Community rules

Thank you for being part of Diabetes Connekt. The purpose of this community is to build capacity and consistency in diabetes care and strengthen connections between CDEs, health professionals and fellow course coordinators. To ensure the best possible experience for all and respect the purpose of the community, we have established basic guidelines for participation.
By joining this community, you agree that you have read and will follow these rules and guidelines. You also agree to reserve discussions, shared files, and content best suited to the Diabetes Connect platform. This platform allows you to connect with others involved in or teaching diabetes education to people living with diabetes or health professionals and access advice from your peers. The platform enables you to benefit from others’ experiences and participate in an ongoing conversation.
Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with these rules and guidelines. If you have any questions regarding the rules or guidelines, the platform or any other concerns, you should direct these to the Diabetes Connekt platform manager via the Contact Us form on this site.
If guidelines are violated, suspension of membership to the site will be considered to preserve an environment that encourages professional and meaningful dialogue while protecting client anonymity. ADEA also reserves the right to delete content (without notice) if guidelines are violated.

Please respect the community rules

  • Respect others. Focus on the content of posts and not on the people making them. Please extend the benefit of the doubt to newer guests and members; every question is valid.
  • Use the community to share successes, challenges, constructive feedback, questions, and goals.
  • No self-promotion of services or job advertisements will be allowed on this platform. Recommendations for products or services you have found helpful is allowed.
  • Use caution when discussing products. The information posted on the discussion groups and in the libraries is available for all to see, and comments are subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.
  • Only share content you have personally created or have permission to use and have properly attributed to the content creator. Do not post any information or other material protected by copyright without the permission of the copyright owner.
  • When posting diabetes items in our collaborative environment, please indicate if the item is not available for reuse. It’s also advisable to contact the owner of any material if you would like to reuse it.
  • If submitting a case study, seek consent from the client for both the appraised and to archive the case study sample for other member-only clinicians facing similar issues to view.
  • When posting a case study, do not provide any personal details of the person with diabetes you wish to access advice on, e.g. date of birth, address, postcode. Only use the drop-down feature, which contains similar groupings of characteristics.
  • Only post your message or documents once in the most relevant community. Cross-posting is not allowed as it creates unnecessary 'noise'.
  • All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive or illegal materials are strictly prohibited. Do not post anything that you would not want the world to see, or you would not say to someone face-to-face.
  • Messages should not be posted if they encourage or facilitate members of this site to arrive at any agreement that either implies or expressly leads to price fixing, a boycott of another's business, or other conduct intended to illegally restrict free trade. Messages that encourage or facilitate an agreement about the following subjects are inappropriate: prices, discounts, or terms or conditions of sale; salaries; profits, profit margins, or cost data; market shares, sales territories, or markets; allocation of customers or territories; or selection, rejection, or termination of customers or suppliers.

Discussion Group and Case Study Portal etiquette

All posts must have a short, concise and relevant subject line that accurately reflects the nature of the post or case study. This identifies the appropriate experts required or allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier to search the archives by subject.
Send messages such as 'thanks for the information' or 'me, too' to individuals, not to the entire list. Do this by using the Reply to Sender link in every message.
Do not send administrative messages, such as 'remove me from the list,' to the group. Instead, use the web interface to change your settings or to remove yourself from a list. If you are changing email addresses, you do not need to remove yourself from the list and rejoin under your new email address. Simply change your settings. Check out the Frequently Asked Questions page if you are having problems.
Consider the information you plan to share, particularly if you live and work in a small community.
