Think Global. Act Local.
Explore the inspiration behind our hashtags, member giveaway campaign and how to win a full IDF-WPR and ADC 2026 registration.
Today, as members gather in Brisbane for the ADEA Queensland State Conference, ADEA’s Think global. Act local. Our member giveaway campaign is in full swing.
The campaign reflects something CDEs and diabetes health professionals see every day. While the evidence, innovation and ideas shaping diabetes care may come from across Australia and around the world, their real impact is felt locally. In clinics, hospitals, community health services and in conversations with people living with diabetes and their families.
That is the thinking behind the campaign.
From conference learning to everyday practice
ADEA State Conferences are not only about attending sessions or hearing the latest updates. They are also about what happens next.
They are about taking a new idea, a practical insight, or a moment of connection and turning it into something meaningful in your own setting.
For CDEs, that might mean:
-
a new way to support someone starting diabetes technology
-
a more confident conversation about care planning
-
a fresh perspective that strengthens everyday practice
These small shifts are where professional learning becomes real-world impact.
Our hashtags #ADEAActNow #ADEAActLocal are designed to capture and celebrate those moments.
Sharing the moments that matter
As part of the campaign, ADEA members attending a 2026 State Conference are invited to share something meaningful from their experience on social media.
This might be:
-
a key takeaway from a session
-
a practical learning you plan to apply in your work
-
a moment of connection with colleagues
-
a reflection on how the conference is shaping your thinking
Members can post on LinkedIn, Instagram or Facebook, tag ADEA, and include the campaign hashtags:
#ADEAActNow
#ADEAActLocal
Each eligible post will go into the draw to win a full congress registration to attend:
International Diabetes Federation Western Pacific Region Congress 2026, held in conjunction with the Australasian Diabetes Congress (ADC) and Metabolic Diseases 2026, in Melbourne from 18–21 August 2026.

We are inviting members to reflect on how conference insights translate into everyday practice.
From a new clinical idea, to a shift in how we approach education, to a moment of connection with colleagues, these reflections highlight how professional learning moves through the diabetes education community. Happy posting!
